Getting started
The words we use
Apps, environments, builders, teams and approvers, explained in plain words.
You will see these words in the console and in these guides.
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| App | One thing that your team uses, for example an expenses tracker. |
| Environment | One running copy of an app. Most apps have one. You can add another one to try changes before people see them. |
| Live environment | The copy that people use. It answers on the main address of the app. |
| Owner | The one person who is responsible for an app. |
| Builders | The people who can change, release and open every environment of an app. The owner is always a builder. |
| Team | A group of people, for example Finance. Your administrator makes the teams. |
| Everyone | A team that every person in your organisation is a member of. |
| Approver | A person who says yes or no when somebody asks to share an app more widely. |
Who can open an app
- The builders can open every environment.
- The members of each team that the app is published to can open the live environment.
- Nobody else can open the app.
